Find below a gallery of the best shots we took at the Ferragosto Italiano, the most famous Italian festival in Sydney – this year celebrating its 20th anniversary!

More than 100,000 people on the street have enjoyed the performances, the atmosphere and the cuisine of Italy in all its forms.

Our association was present with a stall hosted at the Sardinian restaurant “Rustico Sardo“. We have promoted the beauties, culture and heritage of our island. Huge success of our mannequin, “Bainzu”, dressed in traditional Sardinian costume – the real star of the event. Dozens of people have lined up to take a photo with him!

We sincerely hope you enjoy the photos shot at the Ferragosto Italiano, the famous street festival that took place in Five Dock on the 21st August 2016.

It was a huge success for our Association as we had the opportunity to promote the Sardinian culture and traditions. Lots of people came to our stall and wanted to know everything about Sardinia and the promotional materials, tourist guides, traditional baskets and the ritual bread on display.

Next Sunday, 21st August 2016, our Associazione will take part to the 19th edition of “Ferragosto“, the main Italian street festival in Sydney.

Great North Road in Five Dock becomes the heart of the Italian society for just a day and offers you the opportunity to enjoy the best dances, songs and regional foods from Italy.

Come to meet us at the Rustico Sardo restaurant at 108 Great North Road, Five Dock from 10am to 5pm.

What you will find:

  • Two hours of video footage of Sardinian landscapes, beaches, and traditions
  • Distribution of promo flyers, brochures and tourist guides
  • Expo of traditional and ritual breads
  • Expo of traditional costumes

Furthermore, Prof. Battista Saiu and chef  Raffaele Zanella will be conducting interviews with all the Sardinian-Australians that wish to take part to the cultural initiative titled “Museum of Immigration“.
